X BLAMED, META IGNORED: THE REAL CHILD SAFETY SCANDAL

It's baffling how journalists and governments keep singling out X as the villain when it comes to protecting kids from "harmful" online content.

It's constantly under fire, facing fines, legal battles, and mandates - like Australia's eSafety fine for alleged child safety lapses or the recent UK order to block porn for under-18s by verifying emails and contacts.

Yet, X has zero tolerance for child exploitation, suspending millions of accounts for child safety violations.

They've got robust tools: age checks under the Online Safety Act, privacy settings to block abusive content, and immediate removal of harmful media depicting child abuse.

Meanwhile, platforms like Meta get a pass despite mountains of evidence showing they've actively harmed minors. Internal Meta research revealed Instagram worsens body image issues for XX% of teen girls, making them feel worse when they're already down.

They've ignored warnings about toxic content pushing teens into "dangerous spirals" of self-harm and eating disorders.

And let's talk predators: New Mexico's lawsuit exposed how Facebook and Instagram's algorithms promoted underage accounts directly to child predators, steering porn and solicitation their way.

Even their friend recommendation system turned into a "breeding ground" for exploitation, with test accounts of kids getting flooded by predators.

States are suing Meta for deceiving the public about these risks while addicting kids, but where's the same scrutiny?

X is fighting back - outpacing old Twitter in suspensions and challenging overreach - because real safety shouldn't be about politics.
