🟢 Hamas Political Bureau Member Izzat al-Rishq:

– We are surprised by the statements made by U.S. President Trump, and earlier by Special Envoy Steve Wickoff, which contradict the mediators’ own assessments of Hamas’s position and do not reflect the reality of the negotiation track, which had seen genuine progress. Mediating parties—especially Qatar and Egypt—had expressed satisfaction and appreciation for our serious and constructive engagement.

– The U.S. statements turn a blind eye to the real spoiler of all agreements: the Netanyahu government, which places obstacles, evades commitments, and engages in bad-faith maneuvers.

– Since the beginning of the negotiations, Hamas has acted with full national responsibility and high flexibility, working to reach a comprehensive agreement that halts the aggression and ends the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip.

– Our most recent response was submitted after broad national consultations with Palestinian factions, mediators, and friendly states. We engaged positively and flexibly with all the proposed comments, within the framework of the same “Witkoff Proposal,” while emphasizing only the need for clarity and guarantees—especially regarding the humanitarian provisions. We insisted on a strong commitment to the mass entry of aid and its distribution through the United Nations and its recognized agencies, without interference from the occupation.

– The same applies to the withdrawal maps: we worked to reduce the depth of buffer zones where the occupation would remain during the 60-day period, and to avoid densely populated areas to ensure the return of most of our people to their homes.

– As for the U.S. accusations regarding aid and the allegations of theft: they are false and baseless. A recent Reuters report citing a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) investigation debunked these claims. The U.S. State Department had accused Hamas of stealing aid without providing visual evidence. The investigation found that at least XX out of XXX reported aid theft incidents in Gaza were the result of Israeli military actions, and concluded there was no evidence that Hamas systematically stole U.S.-funded aid in Gaza.

– Meanwhile, the occupation continues to bomb civilians in aid distribution areas, fuels chaos and lawlessness, and obstructs relief channels.

– We call on the U.S. administration to stop absolving the occupation and providing it with political and military cover to continue its war of extermination and starvation against more than two million people in the Gaza Strip. The U.S. must play a genuine role in pressuring the occupation government to engage seriously in reaching an agreement that ends the aggression and achieves a prisoner exchange deal.
