This galaxy existed just XXX million years after the Big Bang, and its strong Lyman-α signal was unexpected, given the "fog" thought to exist in the early universe. This discovery suggests that reionization, the process by which the universe cleared of this fog, may have happened earlier or more unevenly than previously believed.
