Give this man a #StarWars movie next, your cowards! I absolutely adore #ShangChi, but what has been accomplished here, again, is unparalleled in the MCU since IW. The way Matt was insanely inventive while mixing elements from so many space operas we love in his own space traveling sequences was really breathtaking. It’s crazy to think that the same studio who delivered Quantumania was able to up their game in such exciting way. The score is FANTASTIC, probably the best score of the year in my opinion, and the best for a Disney MCU film. #MichaelGiacchino did it again, as every scene is enhanced by vibrant tracks which stay with you, no to mention the main theme which is even more incredible in the film. But more than anything, this is a film with so many important messages such as sacrifice for a greater good, social cooperation and empathy, and how everything that makes us different from one another can be our biggest strength when combined working together. And the messages are successfully passed on by incredibly competent cast which deliver portrayals full of depth and nuance, helped by a inspired script that works as a character study in a way, but never losing the dynamism a CBM requires to be entertaining. The scene we see in the trailer with #VanessaKirby’s SUE using her powers, within context, is heartbreaking and we feel for her and for #PedroPascal’s Reed. And GALACTUS was INSANE. All the baiting sequence was so well executed, it almost felt like a classic Japanese supersentai with the team fighting a Kaiju. Frankie was adorable, the way my audiences always made cute songs everytime he showed up reminded me of Krypto on Superman 😂 My only grip with the film is that it felt too short and I would have loved to have spent more time within that world and let that world breathe more. And also a shame several action scenes at the very beginning of the film haven’t been shown in their integrity, rather than the quick flashy montages with them presented to us. And I haven’t seen a whole theatre gasping in a mid-credit scene in years. The MCU is fully back to form it seems! I absolutely ADORED #TheFantasticFour, which had a compelling introduction into the MCU, and I really wish that the universe goes in that direction without ever looking back. I can’t wait to see them again on #AvengersDoomsday, but I would really love a sequel set in their own world again, sooner rather than later. Don’t make me wait for #TheFantasticFourPartTwo the way they kept me wondering about #ShangChi2. #TheFantasticFourFirstSteps is already playing in theatres globally and I highly recommend it!
