EU delegation left Beijing, the Chinese capital, prematurely, concluding the EU-China summit

A catastrophic summit lasted less than a day, and according to Australian publication The Diplomat, EU-China negotiations did not lead to convergence despite the transatlantic rift between the EU and the USA.

Reuters reports that negotiations were very tense, especially on trade and Ukraine issues, and no agreements were signed.

The EU delegation was headed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President António Costa, and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell. The Chinese delegation was headed by President Xi Jinping himself.
