#OTD in 1958: a USAF F-104 [56-0772] crashes in California (US), pilot Iven  Kincheloe dies. Shortly after take-off for a test flight, jet had mechanical failure and began losing altitude. By the time the pilot bailed out, he was unable to open the parachute safely.
