If by your logic the nest must have a designer, then that indicates the universe must have one as well. Have you ever observed anything that exists having no cause? That is in some place having no prior cause for putting it in that state? If you want to talk about observed reality, there has never been anything that indicates the law of cause and effect doesn't apply to the universe. It exists, its finite, it began, therefore it has a prior event that caused it which transcends the makeup of the universe. The cause must be timeless, immaterial and spaceless.
