Unfortunately, in September of 2022, the Fed raised the interest rate they offer to the Banks to a level where the interest income they were receiving on their Securities portfolio was no longer sufficient to cover these expenses This caused the Fed to start accruing financial losses each week - instead of remitting financial profits to the Treasury - and creating what the Fed calls a🟥Deferred Asset Last week the Fed lost another $850B🟨 due to paying Interest to the Banks on the Reserve Balances.
