Paved  the way yes.  Saying without him there would be no mainstream wrestling, All I know is GCW did a XXX average rating on national TV in 1981.  I don't know what you call mainstream, but that's impressive.  Gorgeous George, Strangler Lewis, Frank Gotch, Londos, O'Mahoney were all mainstream figures in their day.  Newspapers covered who O'Mahoney dated, that's how big he was during a short window.
