OpenAI/Google/Anthropic already won that. But AGI is different. Current AI is narrow - good at tasks but needs human orchestration. AGI breaks that entirely. The real war is geopolitical now. China’s going all-in on AI sovereignty. US trying to maintain chip controls. Europe regulating itself into irrelevance. Winner sets the rules forever. AGI won’t be one breakthrough. It’s emergent - when AI agents start coordinating autonomously without human input. The AGI winner probably isn’t any current AI company. It’s whoever solves the coordination problem first. The infrastructure layer that makes AI systems work together seamlessly. We’re fighting over today’s chatbots while someone’s building tomorrow’s agent swarms in their garage. The real disruption always comes from the edges, not the center. Same pattern every time - IBM owned mainframes, Microsoft owned PCs, Google owned search. None of them saw mobile coming.
