The admin’s new directive redirects $2.1B from Housing First programs to involuntary commitments - a failed 1980s tactic revived despite XXXXXXX chronically homeless Americans needing roofs, not handcuffs. Civil rights groups note XX% of street homelessness stems from unaffordable rent, yet the order attacks symptoms while protecting trade deal optics.  

When leaders value tourists’ sightlines over citizens’ survival, their moral bankruptcy becomes policy.
