@mortgagetruth The size of the loss from the  financial crisis was huge for Fannie Mae and Freddie.  To repay the loss/loans and to rebuild assets takes about XX years of profits.  They have low profit margins to keep loans afforable. Making it public would make rates higher to increase margins
