The Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council has announced a list of new security arrangements to be implemented within the region, in response to the Tuesday night fatal shooting of the region’s Kusasi chief. 

The newly introduced measures include a ban on motorbikes after 7:00pm, a strict prohibition of the use of unlicensed or bikes without light, a restriction of the adornment of smocks whilst riding motor bikes, due to their ability to be used in the concealment of weapons and an immediate suspension of the intertribal AshantiFest football competition. 

The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has also deployed military and police personnel across hotspots in the region and has reassured the public of its commitment to the safety and security of citizens.
