Stocks move up they pull back they form ranges, they break ranges up and down, they reverse, they under cut levels, they overshoot resistances and supports then retest them, they form higher lows and lower highs, they leave wicks.

The main point is price moves in so many different ways, you cannot look at price in a vacuum. There is so much context that needs to be taken into consideration when waiting for a trade, taking a trade, and then monitoring its actions after entry. 

If you never study all the variations of price how can you expect to become a good trader? If you only rely on the trades you take it will take you YEARS before you improve. IF you backtest you can greatly speed up this process and develop proper expectations of what price should do just before during and after your edge is present.
