In September 2024 I bought XXXXXX units of Zenith Bank shares at ₦36.50 during their Public Offer. That was just ₦730,000. Yesterday I checked my trading account and the value is ₦1,573,800 because the share closed at ₦73.20. My holding rose to XXXXXX units because in April 2025 Zenith paid ₦4 per share as dividend and I reinvested the proceeds at ₦48.03 per share. So as it stands I have made ₦771,755 as Capital Gain in less than X year.

Last year, a friend spent ₦30 million to process a UK student visa and dependence visa for his wife and himself.

Of course I was completely XXX% against that but that was a personal decision he took.

So I asked myself what if this good friend of mine had invested that same ₦30 million on Zenith shares instead of processing the UK visa? Here is what my friend would have made:

He would have bought XXXXXXX units at ₦36.50 which is ₦29,930,000. He would have also earned ₦3,116,000 after tax as dividend this year. If he reinvested like I did. He would be having a total of XXXXXXX units of shares.

As at Thursday XX 2025 Zenith Bank shares closed at ₦73.20 per share. The value of my friend's holding would have been ₦64,772,923.20. That is ₦31,726,923.20 Capital Gain in less than X year.

Would he and his wife have made so much money in the UK in less than X year even if they are doing double shifts? Can his worth be ₦64.7 million in the UK in less than X year? Would they have made £31,000 in less than X year?

Also, recall that with his investment in Zenith shares he didn't even have to sweat to earn that much. No work, just sitting down at home while his cash do the work for him.

Before selling off your assets to fund your Japa dream, think twice, think thrice. Think and rethink several times.

Have a blessed weekend.
