If your a manager at any level in any company and your asked if your happy with your team that you lead, remember your on the spot — you have to defend your team, because your their leader, and you don’t want to kill their confidence because if they are bad, you as a manager your also weak

He didn’t lie, he’s improving the team, and he answered the question right

Even thou there is a lot of work to be done and he knows this
