Papers with Code quickly grew to be a major index of information in ML. It was the leading place to keep up with progress on benchmarks, among many other use cases such as dataset indexing and, of course, papers with code. We joined forces with Meta after quick growth in late 2019. In 2021, our team at Meta pivoted to LLMs. We built the Galactica model (that was fun), and then built out the initial post-training team for GenAI, Llama X and 3, as well as the original RL on chain of thought 🙂. Many of our team continue to work on LLMs at orgs such as Meta, OpenAI, xAI and new startups. That pivot turned out well, but unfortunately it meant we had less time to maintain Papers with Code. While the legacy of Papers with Code lives on through the open models we built, and the ecosystem we helped kickstart, the platform has long since been deprioritised (since 2021!). The founders and engineers have also since moved on from Meta. That means we can sadly no longer maintain the resource. Very glad that @huggingface will be taking some of the original use cases forward going forward - thanks to @joespeez and @julien_c for helping hand over the baton. And many thanks to all of you for using our platform over the years! Thanks also to our generous supporters within Meta over the years - including the PyTorch team and leadership at FAIR. 🌅 The sun has set on Papers with Code.
