Lithuanian PM Gintautas Paluckas takes two-week leave amid scandal, says he needs to “care for the bees”

Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas has gone on a two-week vacation amid a political scandal involving a preferential loan allegedly obtained by a company linked to his relatives through the national bank.

President Gitanas Nausėda accused the prime minister of benefiting from the loan and gave him two weeks to either fully explain his business dealings or consider stepping down, according to Delfi.

Paluckas commented on his leave: “First of all, the vacation was planned in advance. I have some household matters to attend to — I need to take care of the bees and the honey. Just simple needs.”
