Work on Chennai’s biggest desalination plant at Perur, with a XXX MLD capacity, has reached XX% completion. Scheduled for launch by March 2027, the ₹6,078 crore project funded by JICA aims to supply drinking water to XXXXX lakh residents across GCC, Tambaram, and XX nearby panchayats. Key components like intake wells, RO tanks, and clarifiers are under development. Officials plan 24x7 supply via Thiruvanmiyur and Pallipattu. Minister K N Nehru inspected the ECR-based construction site on Thursday.
