Exchanges may offer listing agreements that seem favorable at first glance but include hidden terms.
For example, they might require the project to provide a large number of tokens for free or at a discount, which the exchange later sells at a profit. Another common practice is requiring the project to participate in the exchange’s “marketing campaign,” which turns out to be expensive and ineffective.

Deceptive element: Projects may find they’ve given the exchange a significant portion of their tokens without receiving the promised visibility or trading volume. In some cases, exchanges use these tokens for market manipulation.

Example: Some exchanges have demanded “marketing fees” in addition to listing fees, but the marketing efforts are minimal or nonexistent.
