Compared to humans, and especially to the human brain, the functioning of these machines is extremely primitive and fundamentally limited. AI companies try to compensate for miserable data efficiency and catastrophic energy efficiency with enormous effort. The capabilities of AI models are not only expensive, but they are also fundamentally limited. The development of AI models has already slowed considerably and will soon reach insurmountable limits, making further development towards a level of something like general human intelligence impossible. And to be clear: Contrary to the AI industry's bold claims, all current AI models are so far removed from this goal that even the term "artificial intelligence" is misleading. AI companies measure their models against benchmarks, some of which they themselves invented. In any case, they take special consideration of them during development. If one were to make a comparison to humans, it would be like someone knowing the questions for an exam long in advance and even having permission to bring the answers to the exam. AGI or ASI was never the goal of the AI industry and its powerful investors. But they have a vested interest in keeping this fairytale alive. They keep pushing AI because it is perfectly suited for data theft, surveillance, and manipulation.
