🇺🇦 Zelensky: New bill restoring NABU and SAPO independence will include polygraph tests for employees with relatives in Russia

On July 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted his own bill to parliament aimed at restoring the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) — after a controversial law had temporarily placed them under the Prosecutor General’s control.

According to Zelensky, the new bill includes measures to protect anti-corruption institutions from Russian influence. One such measure is a requirement for employees with relatives in Russia to undergo polygraph tests every two years.

💬 “It’s a matter of trust. We need to be sure that key anti-corruption bodies are not vulnerable to outside threats,”Zelensky told journalists.

📅 The bill is expected to be debated in parliament next week — between July XX and XX.
