That’s not easy to do or as simple as it looks. This is the first summer we have a clear vision on our coach, his style & just that alignment between owners, SD’s & coach that every elite club needs. Now that they’re on a level playing field with other recruitment teams (who are often aligned under one clear coach); it’ll be the time to really compare. The ability to pick out elite talent ahead of the curve even with no clear vision has always been impressive (Palmer, Olise, Wharton, Duran, Kudus, Barcola, Doue, Samu & many more etc) so the value has always been obvious (despite fan frustrations). Now as I suspected, they’re showing just how impressive they can be with top profiling & targeting of players so specific to Maresca’s needs. You can fault the readiness/rawness of some of our signings, but in terms of profile they have hit it out of the park. We’re targeting some of the very best specific profile-fits for the demands of our system & Maresca’s football. You can think what you want about players in isolation but for the exact roles in this system, almost all signings are perfect fits with perfect characteristics to excel in their role. Let’s not even get into certain targeted collective improvements in different departments on the pitch (e.g. ball-striking, OOP work-rate).
