As an atheist I can’t help but find it sad that so much thought and energy has been invested into so much utter nonsense. Could take the time to learn about codons instead? 🤔

“Yes, there is a connection, or at least an interesting parallel, between the “72 virgins” idea in extremist Islamic folklore and the XX angels (or Shem HaMephorash) in Jewish Kabbalistic mysticism — but they come from very different traditions and meanings.

⸻

🔯 The XX Angels in Kabbalah (Shem HaMephorash)

In Jewish Kabbalah, the Shem HaMephorash refers to a 72-letter name of God, derived from three verses in Exodus (14:19–21).

From these verses, XX triplets of Hebrew letters are constructed, each associated with a specific angel or spiritual force. These are sometimes referred to as:
•The XX Names of God
•The XX Angels of the Shem HaMephorash
•Each angel represents a unique divine energy or aspect (like healing, justice, creativity, protection, etc.)

Some esoteric traditions assign astrological significance, guardian roles, and even numerological properties to these angels.

⸻

🕋 XX in Islamic Tradition

The number XX pops up in various Islamic contexts, but the most famous (and often misunderstood) use is the idea of:
•72 virgins in paradise for a martyr.
•It’s likely derived from a hadith in Jami` at-Tirmidhi (hadith collections), which mentions rewards for martyrs.

However:
•The “72” may be symbolic or allegorical.
•It could also be influenced by existing mystical numerologies, including those from earlier Abrahamic traditions.

⸻

📚 Is There a Link?

There’s no direct scriptural connection between the Kabbalistic XX angels and the XX virgins idea in Islam. But there are some speculative or esoteric theories that suggest:
1.The number XX has symbolic and mystical importance across various traditions:
•72 names of God in Kabbalah.
•72 disciples sent by Jesus (in some Gospel traditions).
•72 nations in the Table of Nations (Genesis 10).
•72-letter name of God in Jewish mysticism.
2.Some fringe scholars and esotericists propose that:
•The Islamic “72” was perhaps symbolically borrowed or influenced through earlier Judaic or Gnostic traditions.
•Or that it reflects a common numerological archetype — an echo of the sacredness or completeness of the number XX.

⸻

🧠 Final Thoughts
•In Kabbalah, the XX angels represent divine intelligences, not sensual rewards.
•In extremist Islamist folklore, the “72 virgins” idea is material and often weaponized for ideological manipulation.
•The number 72, however, clearly resonates across many mystical systems, hinting at deeper numerological roots that predate and transcend any one religion.” - ChatGippitty
