From the close to comic story to the acting, fantastic sets and stellar space travel sequences. The aesthetic was on point, it was fast paced and felt like a thought out comic film. Family and sacrifice was a central theme and it was really well done. Pedro Pascal did okay, but he still wouldn’t have been my first choice for Reed. Vanessa Kirby did great as Sue Storm. Motherhood and sacrifice gave her a lot of depth. Writers went into interviews admitting they “questioned if Johnny being a womanizing, devil-may-care guy was sexy anymore” and how they were swapping his masculinity for sensitivity. I think Joseph Quinn did okay for what he was given, but I think the new Johnny is too toned down. Ben Grimm did good as The Thing as well. Really liked his design and personality. I never thought we’d see Franklin Richards in the MCU. I’m not the biggest fan of the character because he can basically do anything they need to push a plot forward, but I hope they do good with him. I still feel like they didn’t establish how he’s literally one of the most POWERFUL beings, but they’ll do that in Doomsday. ALSO I think using the female Silver Surfer over the male was dumb. Overall it felt like a Marvel movie from a decade ago, and this is the direction they need to continue to go in. Actually interested to see how Doomsday plays out after this.
