Not only did they beat EBITDA expectations, especially in Las Vegas Locals, but they also put to rest any conspiracy theories about the use of proceeds from the Fanduel transaction. CEO Keith Smith made this as crystal clear as it can be: "This FanDuel transaction is not a precursor to another transaction." Instead, the company raised its guidance for quarterly share buyback from $XXX mm to $XXX mm, and continues to execute on their large pipeline of organic growth investments. I challenge anyone to name a better capital allocator than Boyd Gaming. And this is not a one time thing. They have demonstrated their ability to do this as close to optimal as one can imagine for the last 15+ years. IMHO this stock deserves to be much higher than it is trading. But if it does not go up tomorrow, I am ok with it. After all, it will allow the company to buy back even more shares at an attractive price. It is a joy to be a $BYD shareholder.
