With the poor returns on Raiders’ top free-agent signings in recent years, I’m fine with John Spytek’s bargain-bin approach of signing low-cost vets with a lot to prove. 

Raiders’ top recent signings:

Cory Littleton: 3yrs/$32.5M
Yannick Ngakoue 2yrs/$26M
Chandler Jones: X yrs/$51M
Jimmy Garoppolo: X yrs/$72.7M
Christian Wilkins: X yrs/$110M 
Gardner Minshew: X yrs/$25M

Ngakoue was the most productive of the bunch but only played X year with the Raiders.

I know we clamour for big signings in free agency, but you need the right/fit player, and those players may not be the highest paid. It could be the guy on a 1-year prove-it deal or mid-level contract like Jakobi Meyers or Adam Butler.
