Obviously cooking at home is not nearly as expensive as eating out unless you throw away every leftover ingredient and make no effort to use what you have. But instead of saying “I enjoy eating out and I’m willing to pay for that indulgence”, they’re trying to gaslight us by insisting that it’s actually cheaper, which makes them into a “sex nerd” of sorts: they’re taking something fun and turning it into a math problem that you need to lose brain cells to solve, thus stripping the luxury and fun out of eating restaurant food and making it into a dreary necessity—nay, a human right—that people with ARFID and/or an utter lack of executive function require to survive.
