Trading him will be the last straw for some fans. Will be back-breaking for others. But despite being a huge Gore guy — I think it would be smart for several reasons. 1) Boras guy. Going to market ASAP. 2) I think he’s leaving as soon as his deal’s up. 3) You can get a huge return for X post seasons of him. We’re talking X or X legit players including a high-end arm close to the big leagues. It’s more likely he gets shopped/ moved in offseason. Whether Debartolo is hired full time or somebody else is, hard for interim GM to deal an Ace. I just think the value is so significantly bigger now. That said, this winter would be a fine time to do it and return will still be very good. I don’t love it. It’ll be painful. He’s a stud and he keeps getting better. But if he’s going to leave as a free agent (they would have a better feel for that) then getting a huge haul for hook to further bolster the young core feels like the savvy play.
