Very difficult to succeed in trading if you hold opinions too tight and aren’t willing to accepting being proven wrong. If I have a thesis and feel very strongly about it but the market tells me I’m wrong, I have no problem admitting I’m wrong and getting out. As traders we’re going to be wrong, it’s not about that. The best traders are able to change their opinion/thesis when the facts or price action change. Digging our heels in and holding a trade as it bleeds against us does no good. The markets opinion is the only thing that matters. If I buy a stock with a great setup/thesis and it starts to fail, I’m not going to get angry with the market and wonder why I’m wrong. Instead I just take the loss and look for the next trade. Feeling the need to always be right and never be proven wrong is a sure way to fail in the long run.
