A California startup just raised $33M to do the unthinkable: frack the Earth - but instead of oil, they’re burying spent nuclear fuel rods.

Deep Isolation says their sideways-drilled boreholes are cheaper, safer, and totally ready (spoiler: they’re not - real waste hasn’t even touched the test site yet).

The U.S. still has no permanent nuclear waste solution, so this startup's plan? Skip politics, drill deep, and pitch it to countries desperate enough to say yes.
