France has officially recognized Palestine today. Every nation should follow their lead. There is a tragic yet poignant symmetry in history: Israel was recognized after the Jewish people survived the horrors of the Holocaust, and now Palestine is gaining recognition in the shadow of their own genocide. 

The world owes a profound debt to the Palestinian people—not only for their suffering but also for the failure to protect them from this tragedy, just as it once failed to protect the Jews.
