#OTD in 1944: a USAAF C-87 [Registration “41-11706”] crashes in Florida (Solomon Islands). While on approach to Guadalcanal Airport, at night, the aircraft impacted a mountain in the jungle Flight was transporting high-ranking Allied officials to Australia.
