I urgently call on the Federal Government of Ethiopia, PM Dr. Abiy Ahmed @AbiyAhmedAli and Her Excellency Mayor Adanech Abiebie @AdanechAbiebie to declare a state of emergency in Addis Ababa to address the immediate needs of all affected citizens. This declaration will enable swift mobilization of resources, emergency services, and relief efforts to support those impacted by the flooding. Furthermore, i implore the federal government and the Addis Ababa city administration to establish a compensation program for individuals who have suffered losses, particularly those without automobile or homeowners insurance whose vehicles and property were damaged in the floods. These citizens, many of whom rely on their vehicles and property for their livelihoods, are facing significant financial hardship through no fault of their own. Act now to provide relief, restore hope, and rebuild our capital. The people of Addis Ababa deserve immediate support and solidarity in this time of crisis.
