First of all, this is such breaking news that it happened exactly XXXXX days ago, when she became the mayor of South Portland, Maine.

She didn't say that her goal was to help “our country of Somalia.” Instead, she said this:

"Your mama's back home still, right? You still have family back home. What did they say?

“They have so much pride ... and they are grateful, they are happy... and they are asking: What can we do back home in Somalia? How can we change policies? How can the politics in Somalia resonate with what we have here in the United States...the democracy that we have? How can you help us be a better country and rebuild what we used to have a long time ago?

So hopefully, we will be able to help our country, our former country, Somalia, and show that what we can do here can also be built into other countries that we left a long time ago.”
