A school district in North Carolina has been ordered to admit their mistake, issue an apology, and pay the victim $20K. This comes from a 16-year-old student using the term "illegal aliens" in the classroom. The student said, "Do you mean space aliens or illegal aliens who need green cards" in English class. The student was later suspended for X days and marks denoting "racially insensitive behavior" were added to his permanent record. The story caught the eye of President Trump who wrote the student a letter of recommendation. It was ruled that the students' First Amendment rights are not left at the school gate.
