Broadcasting Glastonbury on TV is a complete waste of time. The experience comes from attending it, camping, using the loos, getting covered in mud, the euphoria of watching the bands in the open air (says someone who has been multiple times). Not from watching bands on TV whilst doing the ironing. Broadcasting it also commercialises it and makes it less cool. The only possible reason BBC covers Glastonbury is because it gives loads of their staff a free trip to the festival. From a licence payer point of view, it is not good use of BBC funds.
