We heard nearly XX hours of testimony from the TDEM, DPS, & other agencies, who provided information about our state's response & preparedness to the devastating flooding that struck our Hill Country and Central Texas. The outcome of the hearing was clear: Texans are strong & resilient in the face of devastating events, & our first responders are among the bravest in the nation. However, more must be done to protect Texans before disaster strikes by improving communication & coordination at every level & strengthening warning systems. This hearing was just the beginning. There will be several more to follow, including the next one in Kerrville on July 31, where we will hear testimony from local officials & the community. Over the course of the hearings, our goal is to gather as much information as possible & turn it into legislation that strengthens Texas' disaster preparedness & response, so we can better protect Texans & help prevent future tragedies. #txlege XXX engagements **Related Topics** [agencies](/topic/agencies) [Post Link](https://x.com/DrSchwertner/status/1948475680028549240)
