I get it, for the traditionalist, what is happening with college sports is very off putting in general. Let me put forward a scenario to you though.

So first this is a potential Big Ten of the future.

East Division: Penn State, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland and Rutgers

Central Division: Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue

Midwest Division: Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern

West Division: USC, Oregon, Washington, Nebraska, UCLA

So from that we take the four divisional champs and then we take the two best second place teams based on conference records and you place them in as wildcards.

For the sake of illustrating this, I am going to take Ohio State, Penn State, USC and Wisconsin as division champs. Then from there I am going to take two teams as Wildcards and for this I will take Florida State and Michigan.

So the conference playoff that comes from this is Ohio State as #1, Penn State as #2, USC as #3 and then Wisconsin as #4. Will say Michigan lands ahead of FSU in conference rankings.

So the first round is #5 Michigan vs #4 Wisconsin and then #6 Florida State vs #3 USC.

Lets say Michigan makes it through to play Penn State and Florida State beats USC to make it through to play Ohio State. Ohio State beats Florida State and Michigan squeaks by Penn State. We have a Ohio State vs Michigan conference championship game. A number X legitimately makes it through the field and plays OSU again, perhaps this time for revenge.

That doesn't feel legitimate to you?
