What does bother us a bit, is the way bad news is downplayed or spun as something more positive than it really is.

Phrases like “challenging environment” or “solid local demand in the US” , what local demand? It’s actually down 1%. Or “improved trends in champagne”, it's only up 2%, hardly a recovery worth highlighting. Or “significant increase in free cash flow”, which, in reality, is mostly driven by a reduction in working capital.

Free cash flow can increase when a company ties up less cash in inventory, receivables, or other short-term assets. That’s not necessarily a sign of stronger earnings or operational efficiency...
