XX June 1918. U.S. Army Air Service pilot Harold Ross Harris (20 December 1895-28 July 1988) and co-pilot, George Lewis, commanded the first American owned & crewed aircraft (Caproni Ca.5) to cross the Alps. Flying a from Turin, Italy to Lyon, then on to Paris where they crashed.
