I prepared a list of questions for each band member and relayed them to their managers. I explained that if there was any technical problem with contact witht he band during the chat, I would use these "canned" questions to cover it, but that I hoped that wouldn't be necessary. I should point out at this point that I was asked to keep the conference family friendly, PG. I was also asked to rotate questions to the band members fairly. The flow is that there is a team of moderators for the chat. I type for the celebrity and I'm on the phone with them. I have a window so that the moderators can relay questions to me. The moderators handle any technical issues with people entering and leaving the chat and eject people who are disruptive. There's also a public chat room for people to chat about the chat and the moderators manage that too. Anyway, it's chat day and there are a lot of people in the chat. I don't recall the number, but it's in the thousands. The moderators are swamped with minor issues from people who can't figure things out. I get the call from the band and it's madness. They have the worst speakerphone I think I've ever heard. It's in the middle of a large table. All the band members are in the room along with, clearly, several other people.
