• Elon clarified Tesla and xAI have different missions:

• Tesla, real world AI for autonomy and robotics (smaller models).

• xAI, building superintelligence (multi terabyte models).

• Some AI talent preferred working on superintelligence, so Elon created xAI to retain that talent and keep it from going to OpenAI or Google.
