XX. President Joseph Fielding Smith’s book "The Way to Perfection" laid out the framework for Mormon racism, and claimed Black people were "an inferior race." Taught in Sunday School, seminary, and institute from the 1930s-70s, the book was somehow never renounced by the Church.
