$XYZ Block launches Merchant Cash Advances in U.K.

Square, owned by Block, is expanding its financial services in the U.K. with the launch of Square Cash Advances. Eligible businesses receive upfront capital in exchange for a fixed percentage of future card sales. Key details:

• Repayments begin two days post-funding via automatic withholding from daily card sales
• Payback is flexible — slower during low sales, faster during high sales
• The withheld amount applies to gross sales, including VAT and tips
• This is in addition to Square’s usual transaction fees
Square says most small businesses view this offering as helpful for growth and daily operations.
