I believe that for many Lithuanians today, our ancient history - especially that of the old Lithuanian state, that vast former empire - feels foreign. It doesn’t seem to fit with our small, modern Lithuanian nation. How could a small people have created such a vast empire? And so, the old state feels like something alien. This question never gave me peace. While working on these topics, I kept encountering it. And I tried to investigate the matter. But using only written sources is impossible - they’re too incomplete. Thankfully, there are other scientific disciplines that offer insight: historical linguistics, archaeology, ethnology, anthropology. When you look through the lens of these fields, the picture becomes clearer: the people who created the Lithuanian state were indeed Lithuanians. And the Lithuanian people back then were nothing like the small nation we are today - they were numerous. There were many Lithuanians in the world ✨️🌿 XXX engagements **Related Topics** [empire](/topic/empire) [Post Link](https://x.com/Dakasr2/status/1948399979657118097)
