Tension in Fegen Mahe as Protesters Call Out Governor Dauda Lawal Dare Over Worsening Insecurity

Residents of Fegen Mahe, a community under Ruwan Bore ward in Gusau LGA, staged a protest on Wednesday after a tragic early morning attack reportedly claimed the lives of at least XX people.

What began as a peaceful demonstration turned into a sharp rebuke of Governor Dauda Lawal Dare’s unfulfilled promises to tackle insecurity within two weeks or a month at most.

Chanting emotional songs, protesters marched to the Zamfara State Government House in Gusau, expressing deep disappointment in the governor’s handling of the security crisis.

Many carried placards criticizing what they described as a lack of concrete action, as violent attacks continue in various parts of the state with limited visible response.

“It’s been over two years since he made that promise, and things have only gotten worse.

How many more people must we lose before Dauda Lawal takes meaningful action?” one protester asked.

Protesters also disagreed with the governor’s repeated explanation that he doesn’t control the military or police, calling the stance evasive.

“He knew the structure of government before making those promises. No one forced him to campaign with those words,” said another demonstrator.

“We need proactive leadership, not constant excuses.”

The protest reflects mounting frustration across Zamfara, where many now view the state government as overwhelmed and disconnected from the daily realities of the people.

Despite military efforts, attacks persist, raising doubts about the commitment to fully address the ongoing crisis.
