Sec X of the Bitcoin paper is the easiest way to explain it to Bitcoiners.

The missing transactions described by Satoshi would never be verifiable after pruning.

Would this also disqualify Bitcoin from ever becoming long term sound money or a world reserve currency?

(The Merkle Tree was used for this exact reason, pruning)
