Sounds juicy on paper but let’s be real  that comp is not the norm across the board.

Maybe a few unicorn-status teams with deep VC bags are throwing $300k+ at CMOs, but most Series A crypto startups are burning lean, prioritizing runway, and can’t justify C-level marketing hires pulling that without proven ROI.

Also: X% equity at Series A? Depends on the cap table. If it’s a bloated token/equity hybrid mess, that X% might sound better than it actually is  especially with long cliffs and no real liquidation horizon.

Truth is, most real operators know that in crypto, the best marketing still comes from product + meme + community flywheels  not just big budget execs parachuting in with Web2 resumes.

So yeah, it happens… but it’s rare air, not standard issue.
