The controversial bill quickly reached the president’s desk. In response, Western partners rushed to try to change his decision.

Western allies, including French President Emmanuel Macron and European Council President António Costa, tried to convince Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to reject the signing of Law No. 12414, which undermines the independence of Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies.

According to Financial Times sources, they urgently called Zelensky, attempting to dissuade him from a move that deeply stirred Ukrainian society.
